So I went ahead with Homogenic and got a programmer and just said OK, we’re gonna do distorted beats, and we just did a library of beats that sounded like they’re coming from an eruption, like volcanic. And then afterwards I wrote the songs and we would say, ‘Oh let’s put beat 73 in the chorus’ or ‘Let’s put beat 11 in the middle eight.’
