We really appreciate people’s enthusiasm for the new album but we would hope that Goldfrapp fans will resist their obvious temptation to download or fileshare Seventh Tree and will respect the band’s wishes and wait for the official unveiling of the album.
Alison and Will have put their heart and soul into creating Seventh Tree (and everything that will accompany it over the coming months), so it’s hugely disappointing to find that someone has selfishly (and illegally) put unofficial versions of their songs online so far ahead of release.
Firstly, I don’t belive there anything like unofficial versions, I heard on 6music that they’d all listened to the new album, so clearly they’ve managed to finish 10 tracks.
What’s more worrying is that they are suprised the album has been leaked when copies are sent out to stations like 6music in order to generat a bit of ‘buzz’?
It’s so elitist really, oh the music industry get to hear it first, but the fans have to wait around another two months. I don’t believe that in this new age of internet-musicalness those tatics are going to work anymore, leaks are going to happen, why not be the one to control them by selectivly leaking some of the tracks to the fans, they are after all, the ones paying your bills.
Anyway, A+E is amazing, a different turn for Goldfrapp, it’s a more Felt Mountain than Black Cherry, softer and with some really catchy tunes. Of course, as a Goldfrapp fan you’ll have to wait till Feburary to hear it, or a) enter into the A+R business or b) deal with the illiegalites of filesharing. It seems that being a devoted fan has no rewards.
